The nose of the 2015 Merlot is packed with alluring, inviting and delicious aromas. At first opening, the wine is a bit shy, showing primary red fruited scents and some brown spices. However, given some time in glass black raspberry, rose petal, cherry pie, caramel, a hint of sweet mint plus a smidge of smoke all join in the party.
On the palette this wine immediately demonstrates its freshness and is populated with flavors of cherry and raspberry. Then some plum emerges combined with notes of blackberry jello. The tannins are controlled and well integrated. Texturally the wine can be described as lithe, elegant and sleek. This merlot reminds me of a young Super Tuscan and should age for many, many years and continue to evolve into a prized and versatile dinner accompaniment.
