WiSH Vineyards and Dolin Malibu Estates share the same winemaker so it is only natural to feature the Dolin Malibu Newton Canyon Chardonnay as a paired white to the WiSH Vineyard's red.  

The WiSH Vineyards 2012 Merlot, at first sniff the wine reveals aromas of sweet plums and blackberries supported by hints of vanilla, smoke, and toasted oak.  But within a couple minutes the youthful primary scents transform into a bottle aged bouquet dominated by the essence of cassis.

The wine enters the palate with an expected softness, but a fine rim of tannin immediately lets the taster know this is a more serious Merlot than most.  The tannins mingle with the juicy sweetness of blackberries generating a wine with noticeable length.  This well balanced Merlot will pair with many foods, or can be enjoyed all on its own. 

100% of the grapes used to produce the 2013 Malibu-Newton Canyon Chardonnay were grown in the hills of Malibu in the Malibu-Newton Canyon AVA. With elevations of 1400 feet above sea level, the Malibu-Newton Canyon vineyards often sit above the fog line offering greater sun exposure than the fruit grown at our Malibu Coast estate.
The 2013 vintage yielded a generous harvest. After sorting and whole-cluster pressing the grapes, the pressed juice was fermented in 33% new French oak barrels. The wine underwent 100% malolactic fermentation, after which it was left “on the lees” and stirred regularly during 15 months of barrel-aging.
The 2013 Dolin Malibu Newton Canyon Chardonnay has a rich golden hue with aromas of vanilla, buttered toast and crisp green apple. On the palate the wine is rich yet balanced with a refreshing acidity. Attractive flavors of peach, tart green apple and lemon are followed by lengthy finish.
